Dr. Sandra Lowe

Biography

Conjoint Associate Professor Sandra Lowe is based at the University of New South Wales and has over 30 years of experience as a specialist in obstetric medicine. She is a visiting obstetric physician at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick. Her expertise includes medical disorders and complications related to pregnancy, particularly focusing on hypertensive disorders and diabetes in pregnant women. A prolific author, Professor Lowe has published widely across various topics in obstetric medicine, and she was the lead author of the Australian and New Zealand Guidelines for Managing Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy. She is an enthusiastic educator, having lectured extensively both in Australia and internationally, and emphasizes the importance of training for doctors, nurses, and midwives in this critical area of medicine. Professor Lowe has a collaborative practice, working closely with obstetricians, midwives, and general practitioners. She has held significant positions such as the immediate Past President of the International Society of Obstetric Medicine and has contributed to the field as a founding co-editor of the international journal 'Obstetric Medicine: Medicine and Pregnancy'. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with honors, including being made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and receiving an Honorary Fellowship from RANZCOG for her services to obstetric medicine both in Australia and internationally.
