Biography

Sandra Mantu specializes in European migration law, with a particular emphasis on European citizenship and its relationship to national citizenship. In 2014, she defended her PhD thesis which dealt with the legal rules and practices surrounding citizenship deprivation in the context of EU member states. Sandra has been involved in various EU-funded projects exploring the legal aspects of EU citizenship and mobility frameworks. Currently, she is a key staff member of the CMR’s Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, actively participating in several important research initiatives. She is the main researcher in the EXPULCIT project, which addresses the expulsion of EU citizens from host member states and generates discussions around citizenship practices in the EU. Her research interests also cover nationality law, free movement of persons, social rights, and equality. Additionally, Sandra serves as the co-managing editor of the European Journal of Migration Law and has been instrumental in enhancing teaching and research related to EU subjects at Radboud University.
