Biography

Sandra Marquez is an award-winning actor, director, and educator with extensive experience in the Chicago theater scene. She has been a longtime ensemble member of Teatro Vista and served as the Associate Artistic Director from 1998 to 2006. Marquez has worked with notable productions such as the Steppenwolf Theater Company, where she directed 'Perfect Mexican Daughter', an adaptation of the bestselling book by Erika Sanchez. Her acting credits also include roles in Anton Chekhov’s 'Seagull' and performances with the Court Theater in works like 'Iphigenia at Aulis'. Marquez holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and a BA in Theatre from California State University. Her dedication to uplifting diverse voices in the arts has been recognized with the Sor Juana Award for Service to the Arts Latino Community from the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum.
