Biography

Sandra Rechico is an Associate Professor of Studio Art in the College of Arts at the University of Guelph. She is the coordinator for Foundation Studio and has a varied studio practice primarily focused on themes of maps, routing, wayfaring, and everyday walking. Her research interests extend to public space and curatorial works, including her collaboration as co-curator of WADE, which showcases art in Toronto's wading pools. Rechico has taught at several reputable institutions, including the Ontario College of Art, the University of Toronto, and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Beyond academia, she is an active participant in the Toronto art community, having co-founded the Red Head Gallery and served as its past president, and has contributed to Open Studio and Mercer Union. Her work has been exhibited extensively across Canada, Europe, and Australia and has been featured in numerous publications, as well as being included in multiple public and private collections.
