Biography

Sandra Simonsen is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Media and Journalism Studies at Aarhus University and is affiliated with the Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University. Her research interests focus on collective contestation around politically polarizing topics such as climate change and migration, along with media texts and political communication. Simonsen employs a combination of digital, qualitative, and quantitative research methods to explore the influence of digitalization and (G)AI on public discussions. She also teaches various subjects including journalism, political communication, digital methods, AI, and climate change. Sandra holds a PhD in Media Studies and Political Science, with her dissertation titled 'Media Securitization: National Media Coverage of Migration and Empirical Conditions' from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, completed in 2022. In addition, she has external positions as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University and as a Research Consultant at the European University Institute.
