Biography

Sandra Snow is recognized as a leading figure in choral conducting and music education. As a Professor at Michigan State University College of Music, she serves as the Director of Choral Programs and Chair of the Conducting Area. Through her leadership, she has enhanced the MSU Women’s Chamber Ensemble, which has performed at prominent American Choral Directors Association conventions. Snow is a prolific guest conductor, contributing to numerous performances across North America and internationally. In 2017, she founded mirabai, a professional women’s chorus, which incorporates alumnae from the MSU Women’s Chamber Ensemble and showcases their talent. The ensemble was featured at the Texas Choral Director’s Association conference in 2018 and produced an inaugural recording, "Ecstatic Songs," in the same year. An accomplished author, Snow published the DVD “Conducting-Teaching: Real World Strategies for Success,” aimed at improving teaching methods for conductors at various levels. She also edits the High Voice choral music series for Boosey & Hawkes. Her awards include the William J. Beal Award for Outstanding Faculty from Michigan State University and the MSU Teacher-Scholar Award. Snow is committed to preparing her students for a successful future in music through innovative programs and initiatives.
