Biography

Sandra H. Stuhr is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She earned her DMD degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton, Florida and received an Excellence in Research Award in 2019. Dr. Stuhr completed her periodontal residency and obtained an MS in Oral Sciences from the University of Iowa, where she served as chief resident and student ambassador for the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation in 2020. Her research career began prior to her dental training at the University of Florida, focusing on treating children and adolescents with aggressive periodontitis at public health clinics across Florida. Dr. Stuhr has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the periodontal field and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several journals including the Journal of Periodontology and Clinical Advances in Periodontics. Her current research interests include soft tissue biology, wound healing, oral regeneration, implants, non-surgical therapy for periodontal diseases, and dental education.
