Biography

Dr. de Ribaupierre earned an MD from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She completed her neurosurgery residency in Lausanne, Switzerland, followed by a fellowship in epilepsy at Fondation Rothschild in Paris, France, and a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Currently, she is a Professor and pediatric neurosurgeon involved in adult and pediatric trauma, adult epilepsy, and endoscopic surgery. Dr. de Ribaupierre joined the Department in 2008. Her main research areas include medical education utilizing virtual and augmented reality tools, with a special interest in neuroanatomy. She is involved in the development and evaluation of AR/VR tools for surgical simulation. Her clinical research focuses on epilepsy, cognition, and functional imaging, collaborating with CSTAR and the Robarts Centre for Brain and Mind. Ongoing projects include evaluating surgical simulators, developing an online neuroanatomical curriculum from the learner's perspective, and monitoring brain variability using fMRI and DTI for preterm infants.
