Biography

Sandy Schmidt is an Associate Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow at the University of Groningen. His research interests focus on biocatalysis, redox enzymes, and synthetic biology, with specific expertise in biocatalytic cascades and protein engineering. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he is actively involved in the scientific community as the Chair for the 'Next Generation Biocatalysis - International Young Investigator' Symposium. Schmidt also coordinates the Horizon MSCA Doctoral Network 'BiodeCCodiNNg' and the H2020-MSCA-ITN ConCO2rde. He serves as a reviewer for scientific journals and grant proposals and is an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Catalysis, specializing in the biocatalysis section. Schmidt is a member of the Editorial Board for RÖMPP and the Advisory Board for ChemCatChem.
