Dr. Sanford Auerbach

Biography

Sanford Auerbach, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Auerbach's training in Neurology was completed at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology. He has dedicated part of his career to neurorehabilitation and managed the brain injury unit at Braintree Hospital, while also developing a clinical program for Alzheimer's disease at Boston Medical Center. Auerbach has a keen interest in sleep medicine and serves as the director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Boston Medical Center, where his recent work has involved a focus on dementia. He is also actively engaged in the Framingham Study and various national committees related to Alzheimer's disease and dementia. His contributions to the field are recognized through his active involvement in administrative management of the department, including serving as interim chair of the Department of Neurology. Dr. Auerbach is board certified in Neurology and as a sleep specialist. His research interests emphasize the intersections of sleep medicine, behavioral neurology, and dementia.
