Biography

Sanford Levinson is a Professor at the University of Texas School of Law and holds the W. St. John Garwood, Jr. Centennial Chair. He joined the faculty in 1980 after serving in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. Levinson has authored over 250 articles and book reviews in professional and popular journals and has written four significant books. His academic focus includes constitutional law, constitutional design, emergency powers, and torture law, and he has taught courses such as 'Torture, Law, Lawyers' at Harvard Law School. His notable publications include 'Constitutional Faith' and 'The Undemocratic Constitution,' and he has edited numerous important works in constitutional law. Levinson is a member of the American Law Institute and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001.
