Biography

Sanford Levinson holds the W. St. John Garwood, Jr. Centennial Chair at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, where he joined the faculty in 1980. Previously, he was a member of the Department of Politics at Princeton University and served as a Professor in the Department of Government at the University of Texas. He is a prolific author with 450 articles and book reviews in various professional and popular journals and is a regular contributor to the prominent blog Balkinization. Levinson has written seven books, including 'Constitutional Faith' and 'Democracy Dysfunction', and has edited significant works such as 'Processes of Constitutional Decisionmaking'. He has received accolades such as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Law and Courts Section of the American Political Science Association in 2010. Levinson has taught at several prestigious institutions including Harvard Law School, Yale, and Georgetown, and has conducted programs abroad in cities like London and Melbourne. He is a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001.
