Biography

Sanford Levinson teaches and writes in the areas of constitutional law, legal history, and foreign international law. He has authored 450 articles, book reviews, and commentaries in both professional and popular journals, and he has published seven books, including 'Constitutional Faith' and 'Democracy Dysfunction'. Levinson joined the University of Texas Law School in 1980 and has also been a professor in the Department of Government at the University of Texas. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Law and Courts Section of the American Political Science Association in 2010. Levinson has served as a visiting faculty member at various prestigious law schools and taught abroad in cities such as London, Paris, and Melbourne. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been affiliated with the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Levinson is married to Cynthia Y. Levinson, a writer of children's literature, and they have four daughters and grandchildren.
