Biography

Sanja Dacic, MD, PhD, is an internationally renowned leader in anatomic pathology and currently serves as the Vice Chair and Director of Anatomic Pathology in the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine. She joined Yale from the University of Pittsburgh, where she held key roles including the Director of Anatomic Pathology and the Director of the Thoracic Pathology Center of Excellence. Her extensive training includes completion of her MD and PhD at the University of Zagreb, followed by residency training at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Dacic’s research focuses on diagnostic pulmonary molecular pathology and the development of prognostic biomarkers. She has made significant contributions to basic and translational research projects in lung cancer and pleural mesotheliomas, resulting in hundreds of peer-reviewed publications and guidelines. In recognition of her work, she was awarded the IASLC Award for Translational Research in 2020. Dr. Dacic is actively involved in professional organizations, serving on editorial boards of high-impact journals and as a board member of the United States Canadian Academy of Pathology. She is also the President of the Pulmonary Pathology Society.
