Biography

Sanjay Banerjee is a Professor and the Cockrell Family Regents Chair in Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is also the Director of the Microelectronics Research Center. He holds an extensive Academic background with a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, received in 1979, 1981, and 1983, respectively, in electrical engineering. Sanjay has over 1000 archival refereed publications and has supervised a significant number of graduate students at both the Ph.D. and M.S. levels. His research contributions have earned him numerous awards, including the IEEE Millennium Medal and the SIA/SRC University Researcher Award. He is a Fellow of both the IEEE and the American Physical Society. His research interests encompass beyond-CMOS nanoelectronic transistors based on 2D materials, spintronics, and advanced semiconductor technology, contributing to areas such as device modeling and process technology. Sanjay's active involvement in the academic community includes serving as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Electron Devices Society and as General Chair for the IEEE Device Research Conference in 2002.
