Biography

Sanjay Banerjee is the Cockrell Family Regents Chair Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he has taught since 1987. He received his B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Banerjee has a distinguished career in both academia and industry, having worked at Texas Instruments Incorporated in Corporate Research and Development Engineering, where he contributed to innovations in dynamic random access memory. With over 1000 archival refereed publications and 35 patents, he has supervised numerous graduate students and has received multiple awards including the IEEE Grove Award and the SIA/SRC University Researcher Award. His current research interests focus on beyond-CMOS nanoelectronic transistors, advanced MOSFETs, and 2D materials spintronics, contributing to significant advancements in device modeling and process technologies. Banerjee is a fellow of IEEE and the American Physical Society, and was elected to the National Academy of Inventors in 2021.
