Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni

Biography

Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni is a distinguished transplant surgeon at Yale Medical School and serves as the Professor of Surgery specializing in Transplantation. He is the Surgical Director of Kidney Transplantation at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he leads innovative clinical research trials aimed at improving outcomes for kidney transplant patients. His work focuses on anti-complement therapies, living donor outcomes, and the implementation of patient-centered care. Beyond his clinical role, Dr. Kulkarni has made significant contributions to understanding donor motivations and community engagement in living organ donation through unique programs at the Center for Living Organ Donors. He received an MHCM from Harvard University and his MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Kulkarni's involvement in pioneering initiatives in the U.S. includes enhancing education and access to living donations. With numerous publications and collaborative efforts, he actively addresses disparities in transplantation access and aims to improve health equity within the field.
