Dr. Sanjay Rastogi

Biography

Sanjay Rastogi holds a chair in Polymer Technology at Loughborough University, UK and is a professor in the Biomaterials program at Maastricht University, Netherlands. He leads a group that includes 2 PhD students, 3 post-docs, and 6 newly appointed assistant professors, focusing on the basic understanding of the design of molecular structures needed for desired physical properties, as well as developing optimal processing techniques to produce products with the required macroscopic properties. His research combines chemistry, physics, and rheological aspects of polymer science, collaborating with researchers in the Netherlands and the UK. Rastogi has been actively involved in the Dutch Polymer Institute, which represents over 20 chemical industries globally. He has a strong track record in obtaining research grants, totaling more than US$ 21 million, and has published over 125 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His work includes the development of fundamental understanding in polymer science, with specific interests in bio-based high-performance polymers, chain dynamics, and flow-induced crystallization, among others. He is a recognized leader in the field, having received numerous awards including the Outstanding Scientist Award from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in India. His contributions to technology and innovation in high-modulus, high-strength materials have led to significant advancements in polymer applications.
