Biography

Sanjay Shakkottai received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002. Currently, he serves as a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, holding the Cockrell Family Chair in Engineering. He directs the Center for Generative AI at UT Austin, where he leads research on computing clusters. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the NSF CAREER award in 2004 and election to IEEE Fellow in 2014. Additionally, he is a co-recipient of the IEEE Communications Society William R. Bennett Prize in 2021 and has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking. His current research interests encompass diffusion models in Generative AI, language models, image editing, and decision-making processes in wireless networks.
