Biography

Sanjay Srinivasan is a Professor of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Penn State University, holding the John Willie Leone Family Chair in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering. He is the director of the Energy Institute at the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Dr. Srinivasan received his B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from the Indian School of Mines, an M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to joining Penn State, he was a professor in the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and served on the faculty of the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Calgary. His primary research focuses on petroleum reservoir characterization and improved management of reservoir recovery processes using geostatistical methods and algorithms. He has pioneered methods applied to the early appraisal of ultra-deepwater plays in the Gulf of Mexico, focusing on characterizing natural fracture networks in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs. Dr. Srinivasan collaborates with geophysicists and geo-modelers to develop novel schemes for integrating seismic data into reservoir models. He has been involved in numerous research initiatives and serves on various editorial committees related to geosciences and petroleum engineering.
