Biography

Dr. Sanjeena Dang is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Data Science Analytics at Carleton University. She has a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences and a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Guelph. Dr. Dang's research focuses on the development of novel clustering and classification models for high-dimensional biological data. Specifically, she works on applications in bioinformatics with a particular interest in RNA-seq, microbiome, and microarray data. Her work has been recognized with the 2019 Chikio Hayashi Award from the International Federation of Classification Societies, which honors promising young researchers in the field of clustering and classification. She is currently supported by an NSERC Discovery Grant as part of the Canada Research Chair Program. Dr. Dang has published multiple articles on topics such as variational approximations and mixture model selection in bioinformatics journals. She aims to bring precision medicine and nutrition to the forefront of her research through cutting-edge biostatistics approaches.
