Biography

Santiago Callegari is a medical doctor (MD) who graduated with honors from the prestigious Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2022. He has actively participated in various significant endeavors, including basic research, clinical investigations, and educational initiatives. In the early stages of his career, he dedicated his efforts to groundbreaking research involving the utilization of Zebrafish high-output screening platforms for modeling human diseases, focusing on therapeutic screening in personalized medicine through advanced microscopy techniques. He transitioned into clinical research, validating scores that calculate cardiovascular risk and improving the understanding of cardiovascular diseases in the Colombian population. In his final year of medical school, he took on the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center affiliated with Harvard Medical School, where he deepens his research on cardiovascular diseases using state-of-the-art mass spectrometry techniques. He currently serves as a postdoctoral research fellow at the VAMOS Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Kim Smolderen and Dr. Carlos Mena-Hurtado, and is involved with the Yale Translational Research Imaging Center (Y-TRIC) under Dr. Albert Sinusas.
