Dr. Sapna Sharma

Biography

Sapna Sharma is a Full Professor in the Department of Biology at York University. Her research broadly focuses on predicting the effects of environmental stressors, including climate change, invasive species, and habitat alteration, on freshwater ecosystems. She is currently investigating the impacts of multiple stressors on water quality and primary production in lakes worldwide. With a strong emphasis on quantitative approaches, she employs big data and machine learning techniques to address novel research questions in global change biology. Dr. Sharma aims to enhance our understanding of how taxa and ecological communities respond to environmental stressors across spatial and temporal gradients. Her laboratory is dedicated to exploring patterns of lake ice dynamics and the implications these changes hold for both humans and wildlife in a warming climate.
