Biography

Dr. Sara Awad completed her Internal Medicine residency program at Queen's University in 2015 and further pursued subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Ottawa, graduating in 2017. She currently serves as an Associate Professor and is the Associate Program Director for the Core Internal Medicine Residency Program at Queen's University. Dr. Awad has a keen interest in Medical Education, having completed a Master’s in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021. Her research and teaching focus on Curriculum Development, particularly in developing Self-Regulated Learning and Personal Learning Plans within the context of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME). As a member of the Competence Committee for both the Core Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Endocrinology and Metabolism subspecialty program, she plays a key role in shaping the educational experiences of trainees. Clinically, Dr. Awad's interests include managing thyroid cancer, advanced diabetes technologies such as insulin pumps, and addressing pituitary gland disorders in the context of diabetes during pregnancy.
