Dr. Sara Becker

Biography

Sara J. Becker is an Adjunct Professor in the Behavioral Social Sciences at Brown University. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and implementation scientist dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practice. Dr. Becker's work primarily focuses on both patient-focused dissemination strategies including direct-to-consumer marketing and technology-assisted interventions, as well as provider-focused implementation approaches such as multi-level strategies and workforce development. Currently, she serves as the Principal Investigator for several federally funded dissemination and implementation projects. Her studies aim to advance the demand and supply of effective treatments within community settings. Notably, Dr. Becker has led multiple significant projects examining the implementation of contingency management strategies in opioid treatment centers across New England and promoting training for addiction treatment providers. She has received numerous accolades, including Early Career and Mid-Career Awards from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, as well as Faculty Innovations and Excellence in Research Collaboration Awards from Brown University. Dr. Becker earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University and has completed her residency at Harvard Medical School's McLean Hospital. She also has extensive experience as a strategy consultant for Fortune 100 companies before pursuing a career in academia.
