Dr. Sara Brogaard

Biography

Sara Brogaard is a senior lecturer at Lund University, specifically in the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS). Her research primarily focuses on Sustainability Science, exploring climate change mitigation policies and their impacts on rural land use dynamics and livelihoods. Engaging in interdisciplinary teams, she implements problem-oriented research that seeks to answer specific questions using various methodologies. Her work delves into climate vulnerability and adaptability in small-scale farming systems, including projects addressing the effects of extreme climate events on farming in Northern China and Swedish farmers during droughts. Brogaard's teaching interests highlight the interconnectedness of land change processes, contributing to master’s programs such as LUMES and LUMID. Moreover, she is deeply involved in research concerning renewable energy and its implications for land use and societal equity, working collaboratively with stakeholders across sectors. Brogaard actively engages in transdisciplinary projects that combine her research efforts with public awareness initiatives, integrating community feedback into her sustainability practices.
