Biography

Sara Curran is a Professor at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington, where she also serves as the Director of the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology. She holds a joint appointment in Sociology and acts as an adjunct Professor in the Department of Global Health. Her research interests focus on migration, globalization, gender, climate change adaptation, and development. Curran employs a variety of research techniques, including qualitative and survey fieldwork, regression modeling, mixed methods, and spatial network analyses. In addition to her research, she teaches several graduate-level courses at the Jackson School and serves as a faculty advisor for the Jackson School Journal. Curran has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.S. in Sociology with a minor in Economics from North Carolina State University, and a B.S. in Natural Resource Management with a minor in Economics from the University of Michigan.
