Biography

Sara Forsberg is an associate senior lecturer and a social cultural geographer at Uppsala University. Her research interests encompass geographies of social differences, migration, and rural-urban relations. Her work explores themes in the geographies of education, foregrounding the broader social processes at various levels of analysis. Currently, she is involved in a research project investigating the choices of upper-secondary schools made by families of young adults with foreign backgrounds in southern Stockholm. This project employs qualitative methods to examine the transferability of resources within educational contexts and the negotiation of young adults' aspirations and strategies in relation to family expectations. Sara's research also examines internationalisation in higher education, the policy formulations by supra-national organisations in the educational sector, and the educational strategies of young adults in rural Sweden connected to local, regional, and national labour markets, as well as the return migration of university graduates to rural areas.
