Biography

Sara Galletti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art, History & Visual Studies at Duke University. She holds a Master of Architecture from the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia, obtained in 1999, and a Ph.D. in History, Architecture, and Urbanism from Sorbonne Université-Paris IV in a joint program with IUAV, which she completed in 2004. Galletti has held postdoctoral research positions at Harvard University from 2002 to 2004, and at the Villa Tatti, Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies from 2005 to 2006, as well as at the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA) in 2017. She has also served as a visiting professor at École polytechnique during the 2022-2023 academic year. Her research interests focus on the history and methodologies of architecture, particularly practices surrounding stone vaulting in the pre-modern Mediterranean context. Galletti's work has been recognized through grants, including funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 2021-2022 for her project on stone vaulting practices. She has published several important works in the field and is active in disseminating knowledge through her research and teaching.
