Dr. Sara Greco

Biography

Sara Greco is a Full Professor at the Università della Svizzera italiana, where she directs the Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics (IALS). Her academic focus includes verbal communication and argumentation, encompassing the roles of argumentative dialogue in conflict resolution and public discourse. Greco has served as the President of the Swiss Society for Linguistics and chaired the European Conference on Argumentation. During her career, she has contributed to various research projects, including a European network for argumentation in public policy analysis. She has been a visiting lecturer at University College London and a visiting researcher at the University of Surrey. Her research spans interdisciplinary studies, often collaborating with the Institute of Psychology and Education at the University of Neuchâtel. She is currently directing a project on reframing mediator's communication competence and is expanding her research on children's argumentation funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Greco's work emphasizes the importance of reasonable dialogue in managing disagreements and fostering social relationships.
