Biography

Sara Guilcher is an Associate Professor and the Interim Chair in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. She holds a BSc (Hons) from Mount Allison University, an MSc in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Psychology (Clinical) from Western University, and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research from the University of Toronto. Dr. Guilcher's work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration in health services and is driven by her commitment to equity and diversity in research. She is also the Academic Lead for Research Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and holds cross-appointments in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, the Graduate Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute. Dr. Guilcher directs the OPTI-HEx Laboratory, focusing on optimizing healthcare experiences, and has previously served as an Acting Associate Dean for Research. With a strong background in health quality and learning health systems, she has been recognized with numerous awards for her leadership and scholarship in the field. Her research interests include the examination of pain and health equity interventions, supported by fellowships from Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
