Biography

Sara Hadavi joined Stuckeman School's Department of Landscape Architecture as an Assistant Professor on August 1, 2024, after previously holding a similar position at Kansas State University from 2019 to 2024. She has also taught at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests focus on the planning and design of everyday urban landscapes, emphasizing interdisciplinary work that links environmental psychology with urban planning to improve neighborhood satisfaction and quality of life. Hadavi's teaching and scholarship explore urban greening initiatives in high-vacancy areas, aiming to enhance equity and quality of life in racially segregated communities. Recent research has concentrated on the social dimensions of resilient urban food systems and their impact on community health and food insecurity. She has contributed to various peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored chapters in significant publications, such as the “Handbook of Quality of Life Research” and the “Handbook of Behavioral Cognitive Geography.” Hadavi is active in multiple professional organizations and serves as the co-chair of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture’s People-Environment Relationships track.
