Sara is a dancer, choreographer, and pedagogue active in Montreal’s dance community since 1997. Her work investigates the materiality of bodies and objects while exploring the interrelatedness of the body and environment. She has pursued a collaborative approach in her art. Trained as a dancer at Le Groupe de la Place Royale and l’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, Sara has collaborated with notable choreographers including Dominique Porte for over 15 years, as well as Sylvain Émard, James Viveiros, Maria Kefirova, Debora Dunn, and Sarah Bild, and has been associated with Fondation Jean-Pierre Perreault. In 2014, she led artistic projects that focused on creative movement approaches for the blind and visually impaired community, as well as the deaf and hearing-impaired community. Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Art Education at Concordia University. Her research interests include the body and borders using a multidisciplinary approach. She teaches dance at Concordia University, l’Uqam, and RQD l’École de danse de Québec. She draws inspiration from various somatic approaches, particularly the Alexander technique, and her areas of interest encompass techniques such as Releasing, Kung Fu, and Aeküus. Sara regularly collaborates as an artistic advisor with both emerging and established choreographers.
