Dr. Sara Hobolt

Biography

Professor Sara Hobolt is the Sutherland Chair in European Institutions at the London School of Economics. She has held previous positions at the University of Oxford and the University of Michigan. Professor Hobolt's research focuses on public opinion, voting behavior, political parties, elections, and referendums within the context of European Union politics and comparative politics. She has published extensively on these topics, including notable works such as "Political Entrepreneurs: The Rise of Challenger Parties in Europe," which explores the dynamics of challenger parties in the European political landscape, and "Foundations of European Politics," which she co-authored with Catherine De Vries, Sven-Oliver Proksch, and Jonathan Slapin. Her contributions to the field were recognized with an award from the European Union Studies Association for her book "Europe in Question: Referendums on European Integration." Professor Hobolt is also a Fellow of the British Academy and actively teaches courses including "Citizen Representation in the European Union" and "Government, Politics, and Public Policy in the European Union."
