Biography

Sara Ljungblad is a Senior Lecturer in Interaction Design at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. She holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science, Informatics, and Human-Machine Interaction, obtained in 2008. Her research interests focus on understanding people's experiences with robotic technology, aiming to prevent technology from dominating human life in a rapid and robotic-driven society. Ljungblad has conducted comprehensive studies examining how individuals interact with robotic solutions, such as drones and social robots in various settings, including hospitals. Her work critically evaluates the inclusivity of design solutions and emphasizes the need for alternative perspectives in robotics. She served as a guest editor for a special issue on Critical Robotics Research published in AI & Society in 2021. Sara manages the Social Drones project, part of the WASP-HS program supported by the Wallenberg Foundation, with particular focus on understanding the societal usage of drones. Additionally, she has supervised several Ph.D. students and worked closely with industrial designers at LOTS Design and Design Innovation Agency. Her contributions to the field have been showcased at renowned conferences like CHI, CSCW, and HRI.
