Biography

Sara K. Meibom, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. With a strong background in Nuclear Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, she has expertise in molecular imaging and the interpretation of diagnostic nuclear PET and CT imaging, particularly in nuclear cardiology. Dr. Meibom is dual-boarded in Nuclear Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine and has vast experience treating cancer patients with therapeutic radioisotopes, including Pluvicto, Lutathera, Y90 SirSpheres, and Radium 223. She actively participates in a multidisciplinary tumor board with a special focus on head and neck cancer imaging. Additionally, she is a mentor for radiology residents, medical students, and nuclear technology students, providing guidance on quality improvement projects and career development. Dr. Meibom is also involved in educational initiatives, having created an online quality and safety curriculum for the JACR and serving as an Associate Editor for the case-based continuing medical education website Case-in-Point. She conducts lectures for medical students at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, where she serves as a Medical Advisor, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
