Sara Pudas is an Associate Professor at Umeå University specializing in cognitive brain aging. Her research investigates the mechanisms behind individual differences in cognitive aging, focusing specifically on long-term memory abilities. She explores how individuals manage to maintain high memory capabilities into old age and how various factors such as brain structure, function, biological markers, and lifestyle can influence cognitive abilities from early life. Much of her research is conducted within the context of the longitudinal Betula study, and she collaborates with a European consortium known as Lifebrain to address these questions. Additionally, she is affiliated with the Umeå Centre for Functional Brain Imaging, where she plays a significant role in teaching topics related to cognitive neuroscience and supervising student projects and theses. Sara has been actively engaged in advancing research and has recently secured funding for new VR projects associated with UFBI.
