Biography

Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Sara Seck has a professional background in music before transitioning to law. After her legal studies in Ontario, she articled at a Bay Street business law firm. Seck completed her PhD at Osgoode Hall Law School and joined Western University in 2007, where she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013. In July 2017, she took a position at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University as a full professor and director of the Marine & Environmental Law Institute. Seck focuses her teaching on Environmental Law, Business & Environment, and Private International Law, while supervising research in areas such as Business, Human Rights & Environment, and Climate Justice. She has published extensively, exploring the intersection of international human rights law, environmental policy, and business law, with a particular emphasis on the rights of Indigenous communities and sustainable development.
