Dr. Sara Sermini

Biography

Sara Sermini is a postdoctoral assistant at the Institute of Italian Studies at the University of Lugano, specializing in aesthetics, politics, and representation. She obtained her doctorate focusing on the representation of poverty in post-World War II Italy. Her academic journey includes a significant role as a Visiting Doctoral Researcher at University College London, supported by a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Additionally, she served as a Visiting Research Fellow at Université Paris Nanterre. Her research interests encompass aesthetics, politics, representation, cultural and literary practices, as well as modern and contemporary poetry and political thought. She is particularly focused on how cultural narratives intersect with societal issues, including poverty. Her work contributes to the fields of comparative literature and cultural studies, particularly in understanding the complexities of literary representations in relation to contemporary socio-political contexts.
