Biography

Sara is a NIHR funded PhD student at Imperial College London's Institute of Global Health Innovation and the School of Public Health. She is supervised by Prof Lord Ara Darzi and Dr. Ana Luísa Neves. Her research focuses on developing AI models to uncover patterns using Electronic Health Records, particularly in the area of gestational diabetes, aiming to improve care pathways and high-risk prediction models. Sara has contributed to research across various institutions including Imperial, University College London, King's Health Partners, and numerous NHS Trusts, with a focus on genomics, pervasive monitoring, and large-scale public health datasets such as UK Biobank. Her expertise includes statistical modelling, real-world evidence generation, systematic literature reviews, and machine learning, resulting in 20 publications to date. Alongside her research, she has experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students on academic and clinical research projects. Sara is also an investor with Proximo Ventures and has previously worked in healthcare and life sciences consulting, leading digital transformation projects for biotech and MedTech clients.
