Professor Dr. Sara Teitelbaum

Biography

Sara Teitelbaum is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Université de Montréal (UdeM). Her research interests focus on the participatory dimensions of natural resource management, with a particular emphasis on northern regions. Through comparative studies of boreal forest management frameworks across various environments, she is interested in governance evolution, including decentralization, public participation, and the integration of diverse knowledge systems. Her research projects involve collaborations with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Canada and Scandinavia. Teitelbaum also addresses transformations in rural economies, exploring the relationships between rural communities and their natural environments, primarily using qualitative methods.
