Biography

Saradha Chexal, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases of the retina and vitreous. She was born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida, where her passion for ophthalmology began at an early age. After graduating cum laude with degrees in microbiology and chemistry from the University of Florida, she moved to New York to earn her medical degree from New York Medical College. During medical school, Chexal initiated the Student Sight Savers Program, aimed at improving access to ophthalmological care. She completed her residency at the University of South Florida, where she was honored to serve as chief resident. Her residency fostered a deep interest in retinal inherited conditions, motivating her to pursue a fellowship in retina at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Chexal specializes in the management and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases and has received additional training in ocular genetics and hereditary eye conditions. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, as well as playing the violin, hiking, and cooking.
