Biography

Sarah E. Chasins joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley in 2020. Her research focuses on programming languages and program synthesis, with an emphasis on work that integrates programming systems, human-computer interaction, and data. She collaborates with scientists and social scientists, as well as non-traditional programmers, to shape her work. Chasins earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019 and her B.A. in Computer Science and Psychology from Swarthmore College in 2012. Her research areas include Programming Systems and Human-Computer Interaction. She is involved in the EPIC Data lab and is actively teaching courses such as CS 294-184, which focuses on building user-centered programming tools.
