Sarah Derbew is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics specializing in literary and artistic representations of black people in ancient Greece. Her research delves into various genres including ancient Greek tragedy, historiography, satire, and the novel, examining the artistic renderings of black people during Greek antiquity and how these depictions are represented in museums. Her scholarly interests further extend to the modern reception of Greco-Roman antiquity in Africa and the African diaspora, assessing the implications of historical narratives in contemporary contexts.
