Sarah Furtado is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Neurology at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. She completed her medical degree and neurology residency training at the University of Calgary after obtaining a PhD in Neurosciences from McMaster University. Dr. Furtado has undergone fellowship training in movement disorders with a special focus on PET imaging under Dr. Jon Stoessl at the University of British Columbia. She actively practices in the Movement Disorders and Urgent Neurology clinics at Foothills Hospital. In addition to her clinical work, she is an executive member of the Canadian Movement Disorders Group and a member of the Royal College Examination Board for Neurology as well as the Royal College Specialty Committee in Neurology. Dr. Furtado has previously served as a member of the Neurology residency training program in Calgary and is a current member of both the Parkinson Study Group and the Huntington Study Group. She is also involved in the physician wellness program, which she co-leads with Dr. Lara Cooke, within the Division of Neurology.
