Dr. Sarah Hortsch

Biography

Sarah Becker Hortsch is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Undergraduate Studies Program at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and has an extensive background in mental health, psychedelic therapies, evolutionary medicine, and bladder health. Dr. Hortsch is dedicated to fostering a supportive and motivating learning environment, focusing on developing critical thinking skills among her students. She encourages students to reflect on their biases and assumptions about nursing. Dr. Hortsch has been an active member of several professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau and the American Nurses Association. She has also contributed to global health equity through her affiliation with the University of Michigan Center for Global Health Equity. Dr. Hortsch’s teaching pedagogy emphasizes the importance of a passionate approach to the nursing profession, motivating students to excel in their studies and future careers in healthcare.
