Dr. Sarah Jarrar

Biography

Sarah Jarrar is a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a medical intern at Liverpool Hospital. She has a strong passion for medical education and research, focusing particularly on anatomy and histology, as well as the physiological mechanisms underlying diseases. Her research interests include surgical performance, techniques, and outcomes. She is affiliated with the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) and has undertaken various research projects and presentations aimed at defining parameters to improve post-operative patient outcomes. Recently, her research activities have included the preparation of a manuscript examining the relationship between in-hospital costs and the severity of post-operative complications related to cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. She presented her work at the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) 13th International Congress on Peritoneal Surface Malignancies and at the University of Sydney Research Symposium in 2023. Additionally, she participated in research concerning oncoplastic breast surgery and its impact on the timing of adjuvant chemotherapy, with results presented at the Australasian International Breast Conference (AIBC) and Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Symposium in 2022. Sarah's commitment to continued education and cyclical medical teaching emphasizes her dedication to advancing medical knowledge and practices.
