Biography

Sarah Keith is a cross-disciplinary researcher focused on media communication, popular music, and technology. Her research interests span disruption in creative industries, K-pop, media globalization, and artificial intelligence. Keith's work examines how technologies, economics, and policies shape creative practices and communities. She has undertaken significant projects related to K-pop fandom and multicultural understanding in Australia, supported by the Australia–Korea Foundation. Her co-authored book, "New Music Industries: Disruption and Discovery," explores the impact of technological disruption on the music industry and Australian creatives. Recently, her publications have delved into themes of ownership and rights in music media industries, particularly involving K-pop. Since 2007, she has taught at Macquarie University across various disciplines, including Media and Music, while also supervising numerous PhD and Master's students on contemporary music and technology topics. Additionally, she has served as the Departmental Director of Education for one of the largest departments at Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
