Biography

Sarah Kettley is the Chair of Material Design Innovation at Edinburgh College of Art and serves as the Director of Research in the School of Design. With a background in craft, new technologies, and humanities, she holds a PhD in Craft Methodology from Edinburgh Napier University and an MSc in Interactive Systems. Sarah's previous roles include Postgraduate Research Director and Head of School of Design from 2017 to 2020. She has designed, managed, and delivered a range of courses, specialising in curating learning across disciplinary boundaries. Her research focuses on development in design methodology and relational approaches to care in the design process. Sarah supervises PhD candidates and is involved in academic conferences, co-chairing the ECA RAFT research group and participating in the Arcintex steering group. Sarah has contributed to various exhibitions and authored the Bloomsbury title 'Designing Smart Textiles'.
