Dr. Sarah Nyirjesy

Biography

Sarah Nyirjesy, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. She specializes as a head and neck oncologic reconstructive surgeon with expertise in microvascular free tissue transfer and transoral robotic surgery. Her clinical research interests focus on surgical innovation, particularly the application of 3D printing, computer-assisted design, and tissue engineering to improve outcomes for patients with head and neck cancer. Dr. Nyirjesy graduated from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her residency training at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at Harvard Medical School/Mass Eye and Ear. She has received national recognition for her work in surgical innovation, notably for developing a patient-specific 3D-printed splint that received emergency FDA authorization. Dr. Nyirjesy has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in top medical journals and serves as an active reviewer for JAMA Otolaryngology. Additionally, she is a member of several professional societies and is dedicated to mentoring students and residents in her field.
